The reason we went to San Diego was to see the Cubbies! Gavin had us all outfitted appropriately in our Cubs gear, the only problem is they lost all 3 games! Oh well, you know if your a Cubs fan, you have to learn to lose! ;o) Both  boys caught baseballs in batting practice the first night, what a highlight! Two in one night, what's the luck?!  It's just too bad the Cubs didn't have a little luck while we were there.

Frogs and snails and puppy-dogs' tails.

Or in my case frogs, and snails and baby duck tails!! 

Who needs to go see the penguins, or the dolphins? Lets just collect snails and chase ducks! Most of you know from previous posts Preston loves snails. He thinks it is so cool how they leave a wet trail. He found a bunch at Sea World, and wanted my Dad to sit with them while he went and played. I told him they would be fine alone, but he didn't believe us. We ended up putting them in our Coke cup and hauling them around with us, until he got the idea to put them in his Shamu lunch pail. We took them back to our room, where they died. Yuck! What is with boys and snails?

Montessori Graduation

Move over preschool, look out Kindergarten! Preston graduated from Montessori last Wednesday night. He did sing and do the actions to the alphabet song, which was a big bonus!! The rest of the time he mostly stood there with his hands in his pockets. I don't know what got into him, we all know he usually isn't shy! Now it is on to the BIG school, I know he will be a great.

Kindergarten Graduation

Tears, is the only word I can think of for Kindergarten Graduation.  I cried through pretty much the whole thing. I know I'm a softy, but after this summer (if we make it through alive!) my BIG little boy will be off to 1st grade. Lunchtime with mom.. gone, morning cartoons.. gone, crawling in bed with me, so we can sleep in.. gone. He is growing up, right before my eyes, someone please make him stop! I want my little boy FOREVER. 

Fun with Cousins!

Last week Candice was here so we got to spend a little time with her and the kiddo's. Gene and Claire are both so cute, I can't believe how big each of them are getting. Good Times!! 

Addie thought Claire hated bows as bad as she did and tried to help her get it off! Can't you see her eyeing it up.   :) 

Field Trips

Preston's montessori class went to the Wildlife Museum for an end of the year field trip. He had a great time.

Someday I'll Miss....

Everyone reminds me that these days are precious and they won't last long. I know they are right, but somedays it is just hard to believe them. The messes and laundry, the sweeping after breakfast, lunch and dinner. The rubber band flinging and the constant wrestling that turns into crying. The lists can go on and on. I know these days are special, somedays its just hard to remember. I guess these are a few things I will miss.

 Cleaning noodles off eyelids, cheeks and that darn highchair.

Someday I'll miss walking in to clean the extra bathroom only to find a army battlefield complete with a upside down helicopter and a "garage" of Matchbox cars,

and last looking for a little girl only to find her in the cupboard. 

Just looking at these few pictures helps me realize, I really will someday miss these little people running around my house. The laundry and the legos thats a different story! 

9 Years

On Wednesday Gavin and I celebrated our 9th Anniversary. It was a good day, full of kind words and extra kisses! The day was busy so we went out to lunch and then had dinner at home on the patio. We don't eat outside very often and it turned out fun. I had the love music on out there and the boys kept laughing, they thought Mom and Dad were pretty silly! :) 

In 9 years of marriage many things change but here are 9 that have remained the same.... 

1. I am totally in love with my best friend. 

2. I still miss place the car keys and my phone which drives him NUTS! 

3. He still leaves his sock in the living room almost every night, which drives me NUTS! 

4. From the moment we had Landon he has been an all in Father, that is still true today. 

5. I have always known he loves me, and still do. 

6. On our first date we talked until 2:00 am, we still talk way too late at night. (That is if I don't fall asleep in mid-sentence! Remember, you gotta love me Gav!)

7. We still live in the Santa Clara 1st Ward, and probably will until the day we die!   

8. We both procrastinate! 

9. Best of all... we still have the BEST time when we are together, we aren't apart very often. 

Thanks Gav for a great 9 years, I am looking forward to many more! I love you.

I had a great Mother's day and I hope all of you did too! 

I don't even know how to title this post.... so I am not. Let me just start from the beginning. Last Thursday morning, I got a phone call and it was one of those you really don't want to receive. It was Denise, and she said that Garrett had just left his work in a really big rush and wondered what was going on. I had no idea, so I hung up. Then Gavin called me and said that Ken was at the ER unconscious and having a hard time breathing. Gavin was on his way to the ER, and as soon as I hung up so was I. 

I took my kids to Mykelle and rushed to the ER. When I walked in the room, there he was lay on a bed with a tube in his throat breathing for him and sedated. It seemed so surreal, a perfectly healthy man (a person I loved) laying on that table, and no one knew what was wrong with him. All the scans and tests showed his brain was functioning his heart was working, his blood pressure was good, but yet he was found collapsed on the floor in his bed room at 10:30 am like he had fallen out of bed. After staying at the hospital for a few hours I decided I had better go home and get my kids, they had decided to move Ken to the ICU and have a neurologist try to figure out what had happened. 

At about 4:30 pm Garrett called us and said that they had taken the breathing tube out and he was waking up and breathing on his own. What a relief! Come to find out (after many many tests and a day later) Ken had had 2 strokes. From those strokes he should be paralyzed and blind.  But, because he is such a healthy person, his body has been able to make an almost full recovery. The only side effect he is still having is with his vision, he is seeing double. (Hopefully that will go away soon.) On Saturday morning the Doctor finally figured out why he had the strokes. It is because he has a small hole in his heart and a blood clot went through it and to his brain and created the strokes. He has probably had the hole his whole life, but because he was so healthy he had never done any extensive testing. (1 in 4 people have a hole in their heart, and lot live with it and never know it.)

They released Ken from the hospital on Saturday afternoon. He is still pretty tired, but doing really great considering all his body has been through in the last week. These are the things that  make you stop and know how fragile life really really is. It reminded me how grateful I am for the Priesthood and for a husband and family member's who can administer it. Then there are Doctors, hospitals, ambulances, EMT's, nurses... and all the people who helped, they all were amazing. It was such a scary time.  I  am so thankful Ken stayed on this earth with us and that he is healthy. I know our Heavenly Father is watching out for each one of us, and that Ken has a purpose to be here today. He is a great Grandpa, Husband and Father to all of us, we love him so much.

What do you do when Kindergartner's get out of school for 4 days.... Go to the park and play in the water!! Sometimes I wonder if Kindergartner's every really go to school!? 

Track and Field Day

Landon had Track and Field Day. It was fun to go and watch. He had a blast! He made the finals in the 3 legged race and the 50 meter dash. He also won the long jump! He will be getting his ribbon's at graduation next week. Way to go Landon!! 
Addie didn't have as much fun as Landon, but she did like spending the morning out in the nice warm sun. 

The 80's are back... need I say more?! Thank's Lacy for an TOTALLY awesome night!! 

Another Page!

Look another page!! This wasn't just drop in the picture like the last one... I actually picked paper and added the extra's. I still like the templates for now, it at least gives me a starting point, but I think I am  starting to understand Photoshop! Best of all, everything for this page was FREE too! Can't beat that. Thanks Bradi for the technical help, hopefully one of these day's I won't have to call and bug ya. :)
