Piano Recital

{March 5, 2012}

There was so much excitement in our house the day of March 5th the boys could hardly contain themselves, why you ask? Well, it was the Piano Recital of course! Ha! I wish! :) They weren't very excited about it, but they got through it, and I know it will make them better young men as they grow up. Someday they are going to thank me for nagging, and begging and making them practice. Here is to another year of piano, and many more to come!

Marshall Baseball

Landon was invited to play with the Marshall's 9U baseball team during the Thanksgiving Weekend Baseball Tourney in Las Vegas. We went down after I did my day after Thanksgiving shopping of course. ;) It was fun to get away for a few days and to have Gavin in the stands with us watching. For some reason when Landon plays on other teams I don't feel as much pressure for him to do well. I don't know if he feels like that, but I do. He did good for not even swinging a bat since August. The team made it to Championship day, but got beat. They are a cute bunch of boys with a lot of great talent.  Playing on the Big League Dreams Field again was probably the highlight for Landon. He loves that place, it is such an amazing complex.  Looking at these pictures gets me excited for the upcoming baseball season!

Bull Valley

{October 15th, 2011}

October 15th might just seem like any other day to most, but if you are a member of the Dutchman Ranch, this day sticks out in your mind.  It might even stick out more to Dutchman Cowboys than say, their own birthday, anniversary, or maybe even Christmas! Yes this is a big day. This is the day all the cattle have to be off the forest permit. Lucky for us, the 15th landed on a Saturday this year and Landon had a football bye week. Landon convinced Grandpa Randy that he would take care of Ol' Blue, so he could go out and ride with his dad. I can't think of a better experience than spending a Saturday on the back of a horse with your dad. Landon is one lucky cowboy!

We (Me, Grandpa Randy, and the rest of the kids) rode out in the afternoon to see how things were going and then grab dinner at Marv's. I love Bull Valley. It is so peaceful and smells so good.  I don't get a chance to go as much as I used to, I guess it makes me appreciate the beauty more when I am there. Landon had a ball all day. Everyone told me he was a born cowboy! I think so too! He and Blue got along great, which I knew they would.

Even though I sometimes get frustrated with the cows and the time it takes to take care of them. It's days like today that I realize how grateful I am for them. Gavin really loves being a Cowboy and I am thankful he is little by little teaching our children to love it too.

Pinewood Derby

{October 6th, 2011}

The Pinewood Derby was a new to the Frei house. This was our first year and we had to call in the "expert!" Thanks to Uncle Lex, Landon was able to race a car on race-day! Lex cut the wood, then Landon sanded and painted it himself. Lex got it weighted just right and put on the wheels and we were ready to go! Landon did win a heat, but didn't place in the end. He was okay with it and still loved his car. Thanks Lex for all your help, we couldn't have done it without you!

Warrior Football

Football is here and in full swing. The Warrior's are playing like just that.... Warrior's! They have had an unbelievable season so far, I hope it continues this way all the way to the playoffs! I can't even explain how many hours a week Gavin along with all the other coaches put into this little team, but is sure has shown. They come to every game prepared and ready to play. Landon has played great! He loves to hit and has got plenty of "Mama" stickers to show for it! (Those are stickers for his helmet he receives if he has a hard hit in the game.)

Addie loves football too! I'm not sure if it is to watch her brother play, or to hang out with her friends... You know you have a good friend when they will share their pickle with you! :)

We have had lots of family support at the games. We took this picture of Great Grandpa Bowler with Landon. He hadn't been to a football game since probably the 60's! He liked it, and Landon was happy he was there!

Landon has made some lifelong friends on this Warrior team. Every Friday the team (meaning the boys)  plan "Warrior Fest." They basically ride their bikes from one house to the next, playing, eating and having a great time. It usually last until it's time to go to the Varsity Football Game and the party continues there! It will be a fun memory that I'm sure will last a lifetime.

Football is a sport that teaches a lot more than just hitting. It teaches to work as a team, trust your teammates, do your part and most of all discipline. I am so thankful Landon has had this opportunity. I know it is making him a better boy all around.

Good Luck Warriors!

First Day of School

{August 15, 2011}

Summer flew by this year, but the boys were excited to get back to school. I can't believe I have a 3rd and 2nd grader! They both love their teacher's and have adjusted to the new routine. 3rd Grade for Landon meant a lot more homework than he has been used to... I am glad he gets to make good study habits at such a young age. He will be thankful later, I know it!  For Preston 2nd Grade so far has been great.  I have been so concerned about him, but I think this is his year. I know he is going to make great strides in both reading and math.

Here is to another great school year!

The Wolfpack

The Wolfpack (a new St. George club team) asked Landon to play with them in the Color Country Classic baseball tournament. This was his last 8U (8 and under) tournament. I guess he is growing up, even in baseball. Dang it... ;) It was a Friday Saturday tournament and we thought about staying over, since the last game on Friday got over at 8ish and then he had to be back in Cedar by 7:00 am for his 8:00 am game the next morning, but we didn't. Gavin and my Dad just went up early Saturday morning and Mom and I (with the kids) came later. The crazy thing was Gavin and Landon had to go back to St. George after the second game to weigh in for football. While they did that we hung out in Cedar and had a little Costa Vida (Yum!) and the best shaved ice this side of the Virgin River! :) We made it to the championship game so Gavin and Landon drove back to Cedar just in time for it to down pour! We waited around and the rain stopped. They ended up playing the Championship game it just got over late that night. Talk about a crazy Saturday... which made getting up for 9:00 o'clock church Sunday even harder! We did make it though, maybe (or maybe not) a little late! :) Typical, we're never late for a sporting event, but to church, now that's a different story.

Landon's Birthday

I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that this boy is 9. It is crazy to think that in 9 more years he will be all grown up and hopefully somewhere in a far away place teaching people about the gospel. Time really needs to slow down from here on out. The first 9 has gone way to fast! I love him so much, and even though sometime we have our moments... he is a pretty dang good kid.

All he wanted to do for his birthday was go to Samurai 21. He had been planning it since the fall. I couldn't have been happier with the idea! We had a family party the night before, and then on his big day we went to Samurai. It was great, he even caught the shrimp!

Happy Birthday Landon! I love you. Thank you for being apart of our family. You are one of a kind boy, that I don't know what I would do without.

Field Day

Field Day is the boys favorite day of the school year. They love being outside, racing and having fun. They did great, both came home with lots of ribbons!

Landon's Been Busy

Landon is one busy boy, but he still has time to fit piano into his schedule. He goes early in the morning before school and loves his piano teacher Brooke. He doesn't love to practice... but seems to get it done. Sometimes he tells me he hates to practice and wants to quit, but I know if he just sticks with it he will be glad someday.

He did a great job at his recital. I was so proud, and so was his fan club! Brooke makes piano fun for him. He always wants to go to his lesson. I think he likes to go to her house and tell her everything that is going on at ours. He seems to be quite the chatter when he gets with Brooke! She is great.

Landon also had his Blue and Gold banquet. I saw a this cake on this blog. I showed it to Landon and we decided that it was the cake we wanted to make. It was fun and easy, after we finished Landon gave me a chest bump... I guess he liked it! :) The dry ice was a hit!

At the banquet "Marlin" came and did tricks for everyone. He was great, it was a fun night.

Warrior Fans

Landon is such a lucky boy. This was his cheering section at the football game. He had quite a crew there cheering him on! It is so nice to have a family that supports my kids in all they do.  Thanks everyone, it means a lot! We hope to see you all tomorrow at the big Playoff Game against Dixie! It should be a fun one! :)

Great Weekend

The Dixie Roundup was fun again this year. The Military Helicopter was probably everyone's favorite part of the show. It is always fun to see family and friends at the Rodeo!

Preston had the First Grade Rodeo at school and they asked us to help. Since Gavin had to be in Las Vegas, Dad got the job! We showed the kids how to rope the Dummy and then let them all try it themselves. It was funny to watch how difficult it is to swing a rope when you have never done it before! Thanks Dad for your help. You are the best!

 On Friday night we skipped the Rodeo and went to the Warrior game instead. Addie was in the Cheer Clinic this year and was so excited to perform at half time. I made her some bows to wear, and before we even got in the game she had lost one.. I was sick. We looked and looked but couldn't find it. Oh well, she still looked cute! (Come to find out it was in the backseat of the car, bummer.) When we got down on the track she was so excited to find Sadie and be with all the other girls.  She was totally in her element the whole time, she even did a little of the dance, a few counts late, but she did it! I love my little cheerleader!

We went over to the end of the rodeo to show my mom and dad her outfit, they were glad we came and  the boys got to see their favorite part of the rodeo, the Bull Riding! I just can't miss that rodeo, even if I am two hours late!

Saturday Landon had a football game in Cedar, they lost by a touchdown. It was a good game and the boys played really hard, just came up short. I liked what Landon said in the car after the game. "If we see them in the playoffs, they are going DOWN!" Now that is the kind of attitude I like! How does that saying go? "Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get back in the saddle!"

We made it home just in time for the last night of the Rodeo.  It was a fun, crazy weekend, the kind I love. Good Times, Good Times!!

School Days

{August 11, 2010}

A new year is here! I love the fresh start and schedule. It seems all of us do a lot better with more on our agenda than cartoons and lunch! With both boys in school all day, Addie is having a hard time adjusting. The first day all she said was "Lets pick the boys up," or "Time to pick up the boys?" or "Pick up the boys." She loves her brothers so much.

{2nd Grade}

Landon was excited to start 2nd Grade. His teacher is Mrs. Thomas, she is new to the school, and seems super nice. When he got to class and saw his number was 9, it made his day.  I think he is going to have a great year!

{1st Grade}

Preston was a little nervous to go to school all day.  I have to admit I was a little nervous myself.  Mrs. Woodbury is his teacher, I am so grateful she is with him, I know she will take good care of my little boy and he will learn a lot this year. I still had a hard time leaving him, and thought about him all day. When he jumped in the car after school and told me "It was the BEST day ever!" I knew he was going to have a super year. Yea!

Here is to a great year, with lots of learning and fun!

Newest Member

Landon became the newest member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Saturday, July 3rd. 2010. It was a beautiful day filled with family, friends and lots of tears. (Let me clarify, the tears mostly came from me... What can I say? I am an emotional wreck!)

The morning started out really nice, Gavin and I were up cutting fruit when Landon walked in the kitchen. This gave Gavin and I some time to talk to him about the special day in his life. We read a book together that I had bought him called White Shirts and then he opened up his baptism towel. He was beaming and really excited to get to the church. The service was really nice, Gavin did a great job on the Baptism, and said just the right things in Landon's Conformation. It was a day I hope Landon doesn't forget. Because like Julie Beck said in the Visiting Teaching Lesson last month: “When we are baptized, we take upon ourselves the sacred name of Jesus Christ. Taking upon us His name is one of the most significant experiences we have in life …"

This hit me hard when I read it. I know I need to me a better example of Christ and with that I hope Landon can be good example too.

After we were done at the church we headed back to our house for some treats. It was the first time I didn't stress out completely over the food, and forget what the day was really about. It made my day so much better, besides who doesn't like fruit and lots of baked treats for lunch? Preston had thought he had died and went to heaven! ;o)

Thank you to everyone for supporting Landon on this special day. I love him so much, and am so proud of his decision to be baptized.

Yea! I have Two Fish! Both boys took Swimming Lesson's at the first of the summer and are swimming awesome. I can't tell you how much relief I feel knowing Preston can swim on his own. It is definitely helping me to sleep better at night! :)

I'm not ready...

I am still in shock that this is happening on Saturday... I really can't believe it. I have been putting everything off for this. It must be because I am just not ready for him to grow up and be accountable. I know he is ready, it is just.. I'm not.

Kanab Heat Stroker.. (Literally)

The Sliderzz have started their summer with the big W! They are the Kanab Heat Stroker 8u Champs! It was a fun tournament. The first night after our game we had a BBQ at the park with the team, and then headed back to our hotel and played more baseball on the lawn. On Day 2 after the games, the boys jumped in the pool and had a blast. I am still trying to decide who had the most fun, Gavin or the boys?! ;) On Saturday (Day 3) we had to win to play in the Championship game. The boys did great against Kanab and then came back and beat the Cedar Crush for the title. Saturday had to be the hottest day on record so far this summer and all you had to do was look at my ankles to prove it! Ha..ha! :) It was great to get away and play a little baseball too.

Happy Birthday Landon!

Landon is 8! I can't believe it. He had a super day filled with a donut for breakfast, a huge blowup water slide, cake, friends, family, gifts and at least 4 hours spent at the park. It was lots of fun, I hope he remembers it for a long time.

 I am so proud of the boy he is growing up to be. Just the other day he spent all his "Cougar Bucks" on a little toy purse for his sister. I couldn't believe it when he got in the car after school, he had been saving those "Bucks" since January. (It is the way his teacher rewards her students.) It took all 100 that he had. When he gave it to his sister, she was so happy and I was so proud. I love you Landon, Happy 8th Birthday!
