What I have learned from baseball...

Last week was a crazy baseball week. Between games, practice and driving to Cedar, we lived, ate and dreamed baseball. Here are a few things I learned over the course of All Star week.

  • Cups with straws will entertain a 15 month old for hours, its a bonus if she can sip the Dr. Pepper once in awhile. (Ya, I know Mother of the year award has gone right out the window.)
  • Dugouts are cool.
  • After 6 baseball games in a 24 hour period it doesn't matter that your child has on mismatched socks. The way I look at it, at least he had socks. (again, award gone.)
  • Little tiny boys in baseball uniforms make me smile and almost feel giddy!
  • Baseball butts are pretty cute, even one of the coaches had a pretty dang nice one.  :)
  • Like life, baseball seems simple, until you start to play the game. Then a lot seems to be going on at once, signs are given, were they received? Pitches are thrown and you can't second guess. Trusting a coach or a teammate is crucial. Just like how we must trust our family if we are going to make it through our game we call life. There is a lot of pressure to succeed both in baseball and life. We all know we will win some and lose some, but it is the effort/try we make that will teach us the most. That is what creates the heart of a champion.
I was so proud of all the baseball players this week, but mostly I was proud of Gavin. He coached those All Stars with all his might. They ended coming up just short to making the trip to regionals in California, but the lessons WE all learned were priceless. It looks like baseball is here to stay in the Frei home.

What darling pictures...and I just love the way you're displaying them all. Wonder if I'll ever be a baseball mom? It's all dancing and dress-ups around here. You sure make it look fun. :)
