The TREE!!!

The stockings are hung, the lights are up and the tree is trimmed!! This year was especially exciting for me because we bought our very first artificial Christmas Tree!! For 8 Christmas' now, we have had a real tree. The first few years of our marriage we went and cut it down out in the mountains. But now that we are so busy, it seems like we can never find a time to got out and cut one. This means we get a tree that someone cut and didn't want. They always turned out to be Charlie Brown trees! Gavin loved the real trees. I on the other hand loved artificial, the ones where the ornaments hung properly, don't tip over and not to mention come Pre-lit!!!

I bought our tree the Saturday before Thanksgiving. I was so excited to get it out of the box that I put it up the next day! Then on Wednesday I found all our boxes of ornaments and the boys(mostly Preston) helped me put everything on the tree. Needless to say this is what our tree looked like...
Preston put all the ornaments on the same branch! Then both Landon and Preston draped the berries and the wood garland all over the place. They loved it! I on the other did not!! I tried to be a good mom and leave it all where they put it, but it was driving me nuts. I left it for a day... then had my mom come over after Thanksgiving Dinner and help me fix it. I told Preston "that the branches at the top of the tree were lonely and needed some of his ornaments from the bottom." He bought in to it and let me move them up!
Here is our finished tree! (Preston wasn't in the mood for his picture taken tonight, so its just Landon and Addie.) I think it (the tree) turned out really cute! It is so fun to turn the lights on and not worry that our house is going to burn down, or that at any minute the whole thing going to tip over. This tree has made my Christmas Very MERRY!! (Thanks Gav for caving in on your tradition!)

Oh you gotta love the pre-lit artificial trees! That's what we have always had since we got married and I love it! They are even better to take down. No mess at all!

I had to laugh about all the ornaments being on one branch - that's the way my tree looks. Ours is only decorated halfway up because of the little rug rat. And amen to giving the real trees the heave-ho!

I finally bought a NICE fake tree last year, and LOVE it! I also learned early on that getting my kids their own 2' prelit tree that they can decorate all by their self SAVES my tree! LOL
Your tree looks darling!

Your tree looks great. My kids did the same thing. I of course fix it too! but know everytime Allie goes by the tree she takes off a ornament and move it to a new spot. So I guess if its not one thing its another.

I love your new tree... it is a HUGE improvement over last years tree :) hee hee. :) Just kidding. I'm with you on the kids helping decorate the tree. We finally got a little tree that they decorate with little ornaments. :) Works great.

The last year we had a real tree was in 2003 and we couldn't turn the lights on almost the entire time because it died like right after we got it and was so dry I know it would have burned our house down!! The christmas morning pictures are pretty sad looking with the dead drooping tree in the background! I'm with you on the fake tree thing. They're great!

Spray some Pine refresher and Gav will be happy. The snowman tree will look the same throughout the season because it hasn't tipped over to redo!

How FUN, I especially love the bunched ornaments. Looks like planning a Christmas party is a little crazy this year huh? Good job for making it happen.

I love your tree and I love the decorations! I have never had a real tree before but I'm sure it is a nice tradition as well. You will surly love the pre lit factor, until a strand of lights go out...Good luck when that happens! I've had troubles with that the last few years, it stinks!
