Makin' Jam

When I married Gavin (8 years ago) I had never canned anything in my life. My mom taught me a lot of things, but canning fruit was not one of them! Anyway that 1st summer we got married I didn't have a job so I started working at the fruitstand. Grandma Frei could not believe I didn't know how to make jam (or bottle anything), so one afternoon after I was done working, we went in her house and made a batch of jam. It was a really fun to make jam with Grandma. I am so glad she taught me how to do it. Now I make my own jam every summer all by myself! I like to make it because after I am done I get this sense of pride as I line the jars on my shelf. I know it sounds strange but I really do like to can fruit. Next on my list for this summer bottling peaches, pears and tomatoes!

I make my own freezer jam, but that's it. I would love to learn to can all that other stuff too. And I totally know what you mean about the pride when you're done!

I am impressed Lainee. I have never canned anything either. But it looks like fun.
